Drake The Defender

Grace's life is hectic to say the least, she's got multiple murders to investigate, her home life is in chaos, its election year, and to top it off she's dreaming very erotic dreams about a guy she met only a few days ago. Out at the crime scene of the double murder, she finds black paint scrappings and some orange pieces from the parking light cover of a car. Someone had run through the gate that blocked the entrance to the old mining shaft. The two bodies are nothing but ash with stakes through them. The other scene, the body was decapitated, staked, and burned. She has a feeling these are the three run-away kids. One of her deputies says that it looks like vampire killing. Just what she needed, her people believing in vampires and the sighting of a wolf. When she's finally able to go to lunch, she walks down to Joe's Grill. When she gets there, she sees a black car with a broken parking light cover. Grace enters with her gun drawn, and lo and behold it's Drake and she arrests him for suspension of murder. She can't get Joe to pat him down after he's handcuffed, she has to take him back to the jail and pat him down herself. The hard part is that she is still highly attracted to him and she hopes he has nothing to do with the murders and can prove his innocence.

When Drake turns around on his stool and see who has a gun drawn on him, he can't believe his eyes. He'd been wondering how he could find the woman who he'd been fantasizing about since he'd met her a couple days ago. When she tells him he's been arrested for murder, he realizes that he and Holt hadn't cleaned up as they should have leaving no trace of the vampires. But they had been in a hurry to get their cousin Dirk and his lady friend Casey out of there and to get the help they needed. Since Casey had been turned all the way and Dirk wanted her saved, he'd been infected also. Drake is going to have to convince Grace that there really are vampires and he hunts them. He needs her help as it looks like Barack is back and he intends to take Grace as his eternal mate. It's really hard for Drake to concentrate when he can read Grace's mind and what she's thinking is very erotic and turns him on as much as it's turned her on.

Drake and Grace together are explosive. These two burn right off the pages. Ms. Neely has done it again with Drake The Defender. The Raven Series is one that paranormal romance readers will want to make sure they get. As these hunters are sexy, determined to get their vampire, and they have hot love that makes you need to go take that cold shower afterwards. Her vampires aren't the misunderstood type that have redeemable qualities; they are the type you want the hunters to kill. Hopefully Ms. Neely will continue this series as I would love to keep visiting the Ravens, as I'm sure you will.
