Owner of A Lonely Heart
Marc Sinclair needed Tuesday to help his daughter Elise, but General Bettencourt needed her also. Marc decides that in order to get Tuesday's help, he'll have to kidnap her and negotiate a deal to get her to agree with him. Tuesday has invented SP065, an artificial heart; it's experimental but is ready for human installation. When Tuesday hears that Elise needs a new heart, it seems both Marc and Tuesday will get what they want. As they agree to let Elise be one of the recipients, General Bettencourt and a few of his soldiers show up. He explains that he needs her help. They need to stop Job of PURE, who with his group of followers wants to rid the world of the impure, the ones who had been affected with the Methuselah Syndrome. He also wants Tuesday to help get Rahab, the President Rawen's daughter out of Job's compound. They have already had some agents killed and need her to go and find out if Rahab is still alive and well, also how to get her out.
Tuesday knows she's a pawn being used by these two men, but she has to help. When she meets Job for the first time he scares her, he knows just the right thing to say, how to manipulate people. After spending two hours with him and finding out he knows which of her buttons to push, she doesn't want to go back, but she will. With Marc feeling protective of her and not wanting her to go back inside, she realizes that she loves him and hopes he loves her too, he makes her feel loved, wanted and beautiful. Job wants her because she is one of the pure ones, she never took Methuselah and she is a scientist.
Ms. Friberg has written a story that is intriguing and keeps you guessing until the end. There are surprises that make you think, wonder and be glad you couldn't figure it out ahead of time. You can feel the love between Marc and Tuesday build in spite of the roadblocks thrown up in their path. The author takes our preoccupation with trying to stay young and the lengths that some people will go to, and gives us a glimpse of what could happen and does a great job of it. 4 Angels
