Veriel's Tales

Veriel and Regana had made a blood oath when they were children that they would only marry each other. When the time came for him to imprint himself on her, he did it without her consent, but she loved him anyway. Their clandestine meetings were seen by others, who used it against Veriel to get the stone to release the beasts within. Only Veriel could do it, for he'd be the only one who wouldn't be doing it for himself, but to save Regana from death. Little does he know she is pregnant with his child. She doesn't know which way to turn, now that he has turned beast. She doesn't understand why he left her and went to the stone when they had just finished making love.

Pauwel loves Regana and wants her for himself but unless she gives herself to him willingly, he will have her brother Gawen kill him when the imprinting drives him mad. After the warriors have a battle with their and the village's enemy, Gawen is told by Sibold that he is the new stone keeper and that Regana must tell all so that he will know how to fight the beasts. She tells what had transpired while they had been fighting, but they know she didn't tell all, that she kept a secret from them.

Ms. Lyons has given us another great story, one that answers the questions of why Veriel turned beast and why he went after the Ann in Night Warriors. It makes a heart-wrenching tale, to read of the pain he went through. She has once again gripped us by the shirt collar and woven a spell of a fantasy world that has warriors that protect the innocent. It may be that all is not what it seems and that Veriel isn't as evil as we thought. The love he shows for Regana, her mate and her family shows he is more warrior than beast. 5 Angels
