A Home for Christmas
On a whim, Janice Thornton, decides to return to the town where her grandparents once lived. It is here, in this little town, where Janice can remember truly being happy. Her grandparents have both since passed on, but Janice just wants to see the house again.
When she arrives at her grandparents’ house, she finds that it isn’t empty, but inhabited by a very handsome man, Blake Ferguson. When she surprises him with her presence, Blake manages to slip and fall from the ladder he is working on. Janice goes into her doctor mode to make sure he is okay, only while examining him; concern is not the only thing she is feeling.
Blake is not sure what to make of Janice, but he knows he wants her to stay around a little longer. It’s Christmas time in Angel Ridge, so Blake invites her to help put up decorations. It becomes clear to him that Janice isn’t used to this type of thing. He feels drawn to her and when he learns that her family has never been close, he respects the woman she has become even more. When fate steps in and brings a long lost uncle into Janice’s life, it looks like Blake may get a chance to make this a Christmas she won’t soon forget.
A Home for Christmas is a charming, heart-warming story. Janice doesn’t trust anyone easily and she suddenly finds two new men in her life wanting her to trust and depend on them. Deborah Grace-Staley does an excellent job of describing both Janice and Blake’s vulnerabilities. Readers can’t help but understand why Janice is shy to trust and readers also can’t help but root for Blake as he tries his hardest to prove to Janice that he is worthy of her trust. A Home for Christmas is the type of book that you want to curl up with and read over and over again. I couldn’t help but laugh out loud at Blake‘s attempts to “court” Janice and her uncle’s subsequent reactions. A Home for Christmas just has an old-fashion feeling to it. Deborah Grace-Staley writes the type of stories that stay with you long after you’ve turned the last page.
