Elemental Wizards: Age of Fire
The Goddess Mother and her Consort waited until the people of Earth were ready for a change, a change that would bring about magic, healers and wizards. When the time came, the Goddess Mother gave birth to four sons; Nitesh ruled the earth, Crio ruled the air, Adish ruled fire and Dylan ruled the water.
This is Adish's story...
Azara, the Healer, and the Seer, Narda, have been enemies since birth. When Narda uses her position in the village to prophesize a sacrifice that only Azara can fulfill, she is enraged. Yet, there would appear to be little the Healer can do to stop the sacrifice to the “Lord of the Flame.”
Adish has seen Azara before. He gazed upon her loveliness during a cleansing. He was mesmerized by her, but was dismayed when he saw the purple robes indicating she was a high level Healer. Her status as a Healer meant that she is supposed to be untouched. When Adish and his brothers hear of Narda’s false prophecy, they seek to find a way to save Azara from being sacrificed.
When the Goddess Mother and her Consort visit Azara, they tell her not to fear, all will be well. Azara is not sure what this means, but accepts her fate. When she is thrown into the volcano by Narda and doesn’t die, her troubles are not over yet. A Healer who can no longer heal and an enemy that is still determined to destroy her, even attacking Adish to get to her. Can Azara make her way in the Age of Fire?
Age of Fire in a word is hot! Sapphire Williams definitely has a way with words. Her characters come to life with witty dialog and realistic qualities. At times Age of Fire gives the impression of a roller coaster, readers never know what is going to happen next. There were moments that I laughed, times I was sad, and instances where I held my breath in anticipation of what came next. Azara's journey is one of enlightenment. She knows what is expected of her, what she will be denied even though she longs for it and she embraces her destiny without question. The author’s presentation of the struggle between good and evil is unique and enjoyable. The added element of Azara’s relationship with the brothers, specifically Adish, allows readers to see her as not only a heroine but also as a person with feelings and desires. Sapphire is to be applauded for her style and ingenuity. This book is sensual. The scenes between Adish and Azara are tasteful but very thorough, HOT! The author is descriptive enough in that she gives you enough words to get the picture but also allows you to use your imagination for the rest. The conflict Azara must face and overcome is compelling, yet add to this the sensuality and humor that intersperse the drama and you won’t be able to put this book down.
