Flame

Michelle Venters and Darin Greene haven’t seen each other in almost 10 years. They’d been best friends in high school until Michelle’s family moved away and then they lost touch. Now as Darin stood staring at her, it quickly became obvious that there was more to Michelle than he ever knew. Apparently she went by the name “Flame” now and is rushing off to some kind of appearance with an assistant fussing about. Darin is definitely intrigued.

After seeing Michelle again, he can’t stop thinking of her. After lunch and reminiscing about the past, they share a kiss that stuns them both. Michelle can’t say that’s she’s at all sorry, but for some reason Darin appears to be. All she knows is that after the death of her husband two years prior, she feels alive again. When they spend the weekend together, Michelle knows that their relationship has changed forever. Darin won’t stay with her; for some reason, he won’t let himself. All she can do is enjoy the time the have together and hope it’ll be enough for a lifetime.

When Darin learns that someone has been stalking Michelle, he can’t believe that she didn’t tell him. An attempt on Michelle’s life puts her in the hospital and the guilt at having failed to protect her is almost more than Darin can stand. When Michelle tells him she loves him, even his guilt, doesn’t stop him from walking out on her. What Darin doesn’t know is that the person who shot Michelle was only hired to do so, her life is still in danger. Michelle is heart broken and refuses to tell him. She won’t have him come back to her, to protect her, only to leave her once she’s safe again. Michelle wants Darin to come back to her because he loves her and she can only hope that he realizes that soon and that her stalker doesn’t make good on his threats before he does.

Flame is without a doubt a must read suspense novel. Erin Moore has written this story with so much emotion and depth readers are enthralled from the beginning. This is a highly enticing tale of two stubborn people, that love each other very much and who want the same things out of life, just won’t admit it. What starts out as two old friends getting together quickly turns into a mystery that will have readers on the edge of their seats. Ms. Moore is excellent at writing love stories that steal your heart and will have you thinking about them after you’ve finished reading. Her characterizations are very believable as most situations can and do happen in real life. I liked this book because it kept me interested. I was so compelled by the plot that I couldn’t put this book down. Erin can do that to readers. Her road to love is never smooth, but it’s a great read while her characters are trying to get there. Ms. Moore with her first release, All I Ever Wanted, hooked me. Now with Flame that fact is cemented even more. Flame and Erin both are essential to romantic suspense fans. 5 angels!
