Stroke of Midnight
Midnight Angel – Carly Phillips
For 10 years he hasn’t been able to stop thinking about her, wanting her, or dreaming about her. Now after all this time, Dylan is determined to win Holly back.
Holly can’t believe that she is face-to-face with Dylan North, Hollywood’s latest heartthrob, again. Having chalked their previous romance up as a high school crush, she couldn’t image why he would want to see her. One look at him and the cascade of emotions she’s been trying to bury for 10 years come roaring back to life, the good and the bad. Holly thought they’d been headed somewhere. She’d been planning a happily ever after but what she got was a “Dear Jane” letter in her mailbox. Yet she can’t deny that he is still handsome, sexy and has a dangerous effect on her libido.
Dylan never meant to hurt Holly. At the time he thought he was doing what was best for both of them. How was he supposed to know that nothing in his life would ever mean as much to him as she did, that he would be unable to stop thinking about her? Now all he has to do is convince Holly that she can love him and trust him with her heart again.
Midnight Angel is a heart-warming story of lost love and the hopes of loving again. Midnight Angel is my first story by Carly Philips and what a book to start with! Ms. Phillips fills this story with passion and sensuality. The characters are easily likable, the plot easily believable, but what I loved most about this story is the depth of the feelings between Dylan and Holly. The sex is hot, the romance sizzles and readers can’t help becoming engrossed in this fantastic holiday tale.
Meet Me at Midnight – Janelle Denison
Shane and Alyssa have been best friends since they were children. There is nothing one doesn’t know about the other. Here lately, Shane’s been having an increasingly difficult time keeping his developing feelings for Alyssa from showing. Shane knows Alyssa doesn’t see him as anything more than her best friend and losing her and their friendship is not an option.
When Alyssa announces that for her New Year’s resolution she plans to be more open minded about relationships, Shane is actually shocked. Her typical MO has been to only date people that weren’t all that serious and if a relationship started to head towards serious she’d break it off with the guy. At first the idea of Alyssa committing herself to anyone unsettles him, but then with further thought Shane realizes, why not him? He cares for Alyssa and he has for quite some time. He has to plan this just right because he doesn’t want to scare her away and lose her.
While Shane sets his plan in motion, Alyssa’s been receiving Instant Messages from a “secret admirer”. Oddly enough she’s curious about this admirer that claims to have been “attracted to her for some time now” and he wants to meet her at the New Year’s Eve party. What will happen when these two best friends come together at this year’s New Year’s Eve party?
Janelle Denison never fails to entertain her readers and succeeds again with Meet Me at Midnight. This is a timeless story of friends turned loversMeet Me at Midnight isn’t a mystery in the usual sense of the word, however; there is an element of the unknown for the characters to unravel. The readers may know what the characters do not, but Ms. Denison keeps the story interesting with beguiling humor and spice as Alyssa and Shane gradually find out the truth. As long as Janelle Denison is writing the book it never fails to be sensuous and enticing.
Mine at Midnight – Jacquie D’Alessandro
Merrie is dangerously attracted to her accountant. Tom is a straight-laced, business first kind of person. He’s gorgeous, sexy and everything she’s not. Merrie stores her business receipts in a Tupperware container, which she thinks is a step up from the little bags she used to put them in. Still, their differences don’t make him less alluring to her.
Tom can’t believe that he can’t stop fantasizing about one little elf, literally. Merrie comes dressed as an elf to a meeting over her finances. When he should be lecturing her on saving her money and becoming more organized, he can’t stop thinking about her lips and kissing her.
When Merrie’s “Santa” cancels on her, somehow he ends up as the stand in. Tom doesn’t even like the holidays, yet he’s going to dress up as Santa Claus to help Merrie. When he sees her in action, Tom is taken aback. He always thought of Merrie as somewhat flighty, but now he can see that at least when it comes to her business, she’s very organized and very good at what she does. Seeing Merrie in this new light doesn’t exactly make it easier for him to stop wanting her or wondering if he can have her.
Mine at Midnight is a book filled with humor and desire. What this couple does in the midst of baking cookies will leave readers grasping for anything to cool them down. I laughed at Merrie’s antics and there were times that the interactions between Merrie and Tom were hysterical. Jacquie D’Alessandro is also new to me as an author and Mine at Midnight is a terrific story. I truly enjoyed reading this book and with Ms. D’Alessandro, when you mix two completely opposite people, anything can happen.
Kudos to whoever decided to put these three authors together! Stroke of Midnight is a highly entertaining book by three of the best in the romance industry. Readers do not want to miss out on this holiday themed story.
