Dead Man's Party

Catherine works for the historical society and her job is to prevent the 19th century Swann Bordello from being torn down by new owner Rick Eriksson. A hard task, for Rick needs the money from the salvage of the bordello to save his company. When the two meet something happens neither can explain. Memories of being Cat and Thom emerge hot and heavy, and desire between them becomes the only thing on their minds. Is what they feel real or an echo of lovers past? Should they act on those impulses or deny the heat they both feel?

Hot and steamy from start to finish, Dead Man's Party by Stephanie Vaughan is erotic and sexy, with love scenes that will make the reader hot and bothered. The story premise and historical aspects deserve a 4 rating but I gave this a 3 due to other plot twists, which I found to be detracting from the story. I had a little trouble with the ending. It seemed too abrupt and too unsettled, and the conflict which brings them together stays unresolved. I also had trouble with the introduction of a third party into the sex scenes. The haunting influences of the past was enough explanation for Rick and Catherine to fall all over each other within minutes of meeting, but I failed to grasp the reasoning for the third person joining in. I liked this story regardless of the problems I mentioned and I would recommend that the reader stay open minded and decide for themselves.
