Keeper of the Key

In 1836, Caleb Harrison receives an amulet from Atlantis and is sent from the past to the present day, the 21st century. He is sent from the home and life of fiancée Mary Rebecca Berclair and his beloved godson, into the home and the life of Becci Berclair, her descendant and namesake. Becci finds his tale of being from the past hard to swallow, even though his story seems to confirm that which she and her aunt learned from reading old family diaries. However those same diaries claim Caleb murdered his fiancée and then disappeared, so Becci must wonder if his story is true. Has she allowed a dangerous man into her home? Caleb claims he can help Becci find the treasure mentioned in the diaries as well, treasure which could save her from being forced to sell her ancestral home. A sale her fiancé is pushing for and Caleb cannot help but wonder why. Becci is torn between the financial reality she is facing and the desire to open her own childcare business. She wants to put her faith in Caleb and let him in her life and her heart, but what happens when he returns to the past as he claims he must do?

Keeper of the Key is a well-crafted example of what a time travel should be. The legend of the amulet from Atlantis creates an interesting means for the travel to be possible. The mystery of what did or did not happen in the past is very intriguing and suspenseful enough to keep you up reading late into the night. I truly felt for the characters in this tale especially when the choice of whether to return to the past or not became such a difficult one to make. Overall, Keeper of the Key is a great read worth checking out!
