As a prisoner of war in the Yankee camp Simon has little else to do but reflect on the circumstances that landed him on display for all and sundry Yankee's. A flippant comment in front of enterprising Harriet Beecher Stowe started the Civil war. He is wounded and tended to by, none other than his favorite slave Cassy, who has emancipated herself and switched sides. Yet again, the inability to keep his mouth lands Simon a prison of war and on display.

Ms. Rose takes a very touchy issue and gently pokes at it. She has taken Master/slave and translated it to the current D/s and role-playing that is ever more prevalent in current romance and erotic books. While slavery is a serious topic, if taken in the flavor it was delivered, Captive Master is the funny, sexy exploitation and rehabilitation of the evil Simon Legree. At just under 40 pages long, this story grabs and holds the readers interest.
