Jinxed

Lieutenant Jenkins, or Jinx as he is known, has just come off a long stretch of overtime and doesn’t plan on helping the young woman waiting in the police station, but something about her changes his mind. And even after hearing her outrageous story; she is claiming that the Mayor, the same mayor they call Landslide for his popularity, is stalking her; he finds himself still trying to help her even if there is nothing he can do.

Kendra Duchaine, a high school Shakespeare teacher, knows that no one is going to believe her story, but she has to try anyway. Afraid for her life and her students, she has got to make him Jinx understand.

With very little evidence there is really nothing he can do and Jinx tries desperately to stay away from Kendra. Struggling with his feelings for her, he tries to keep their relationship professional, as Jinx puts his life on the line to protect the woman he now realizes he loves.

This book had a lot going for it. A fast paced romance, interlaced with believable interaction between Jinx and Kendra, as well as entertaining scenes with Kendra’s students and a man named Pop. The pacing of the story is consistent. I loved Jinx as much as Kendra did and was happy they both got that second chance at love. The suspense was fitting for the storyline as well, and complimented the developing relationship between Kendra and Jinx. I highly recommend this book!
