When a fire at a real estate office in Baxter, Georgia is determined to be the work of an arsonist, police lieutenant Wes Kimball is assigned to investigate. When a fire occurs at a large warehouse, owned by the same prominent businessman who owned the real estate office, state arson investigator Cara Hughes is called in to investigate.

Cara is accustomed to being the only woman in a male dominated field so she thinks that she is prepared for anything that Wes can throw at her. She quickly finds out that she is wrong. Absolutely nothing in her life has prepared her for the shock that runs through her body when she looks into his eyes and shakes his hand. The heat that shimmers between them is several times hotter than the hottest fire she has ever encountered.

Wes has heard all about the tough-as-nails big city arson investigator who is going to be working on the case so he is shocked when he encounters the slim yet curvy woman in person. He is even more shocked to discover that they seem to be kindred souls. He never thought that anyone would understand his loneliness amidst a crowd, or his desire for acceptance and respect that lurks beneath his rebel, devil may care attitude.

As Wes and Cara work together to solve this case they discover a passion that cannot be denied and more secrets than Wes believed could possibly be hidden in his small town.

Ever since I read Ms. Etherington’s Hunka Hunka Burning Love I have been dying to meet the woman who would conquer bad-boy Wes Kimball. Cara Hughes is definitely the right woman for the job. The reader in me was blown away by the characters and the emotions in Sparking His Interest while the Psychology major in me thrilled at the way Cara dug into the psyche of the arsonist to explain the reasoning behind his actions. The action itself was fast paced and thanks to the suspense and dramatic ending I am now missing a few fingernails. Wendy Etherington has a unique voice that I truly believe will become very prominent in the romance industry. I have no hesitation what so ever in giving Sparking His Interest not only 5 angels but a well deserved Recommended Read.
