Cry, Baby, Cry
Sam and Francie have just moved to the suburbs. Sam has a longer commute to and from work and Francie is working from their home. Getting to know your new neighbors can be quite an experience. Especially at Halloween, a time when strange things happen.
The morning after Halloween, Francie is shocked to discover a newborn baby wrapped snuggly and warm on her doorstep. The only clues she has is a note asking her to care for the baby and a medallion that was placed in the blankets with the child. Francie remembered seeing the same medallion on a trick-or-treater the night before. Even with the face paint and the black cloak that the end of the night visitor was wearing Francie remembers thinking that the girl was a little old to be trick-or-treating. Francie's new mission is to find out who the young woman is and to reunite her with her baby that she obviously didn't think she could care for in order for her to leave the child on a stranger's doorstep.
Soon Francie finds help in strange places by strange people. Her own neighbors. Things on their street just aren't as they seem. The people aren't as they seem. What other mysteries and scandals will Francie unearth before she is able to solve the first one?
WOW, what a recipe for success. This book is jammed packed full of intrigue and suspense with a touch of romance added in for flavoring. The characters are amazing and well defined. The plot is interesting and the writing smooth and fast paced. The reader will have many twists and turns to figure out. Not to mention a family scandal that will shock and titillate.
Author Maureen Mackey has a winner with Cry, Baby, Cry. This reviewer hasn't read the other two books in the Francie and Sam series, but if they are anything like this grab the edge of your seat read, then they are a must have to any romantic suspense lover.
