Marrying A Stranger

Megan is in a rut. She wants more than anything to move to Australia, but her efforts to find a position as a secretary have been futile. She decides to load up and go back to her childhood home, looking for some closure on the past. When her car breaks down, she is forced to stay at a hotel were she meets Ben. Ben is also looking to make big changes in his life. He is selling his business and bought 200 acres in Australia. He is feeling time slipping away and before it is too late, he wants to find a woman, marry and have a family. Unfortunately, Ben doesn't believe in love. When he meets Megan, they discover they have a lot of common interests: This includes the dream of a home and family. Because of their common wants and desires, Ben thinks it is a good idea for them to get married. Megan is concerned about the lack of love between them, but Ben is very persuasive and Megan agrees to marry him. Can Megan find the love she wants or is Ben right... there isn't any such thing as a forever love?

Ms. Jayes latest offering has an interesting plot of two people with common goals, but different ideas of how to get there. These two characters share a mutual immediate sexual attraction, but where Megan is falling in love, Ben doesn't believe in such nonsense. This reviewer felt that Megan seems just a little needy and desperate to agree to a man with such a cynical outlook on life, not to mention marrying a man she hardly knows… a stranger. The author also seemed to try to put too much into too short of a time period… the time when Ben and Megan were getting to know each other. They flint from place to place and this reviewer wished the author would have had the characters visit fewer places and expanded upon the details of each locale. All in all, Marrying A Stranger is a delightful read. A well-written tale, the reader will enjoy traveling from Europe to Australia with Megan and Ben.
