In Heat
Jax was exiled from his home planet Jimlee for a crime he didn't commit. Exiled for a period of seven years, he never received training on how to handle the once yearly mating cycle his kind goes through. Now that he’s in the last year of his exile on Sector 12, he’s determined to purchase a slave woman to help him through his yearly mating cycle. Fortunately for the woman he’s sweating a powerful chemical that’s an aphrodisiac to his partner or it would be 24-hours of pure hell for both of them because he would be unable to stop no matter how exhausted she was.
Waverly awakens in the arms of a naked male with green eyes who’s over six and a half feet tall. He thinks she’s a slave and tells her he’s suffering from a once yearly mating cycle and bought her to help him through it. The problem is that she too, is in heat and suffering through her once monthly mating cycle. What’s more she’s a virgin and usually avoids contact with males at all costs because she can't stand to be touched. As she tries to explain to Jax that she is not a slave she finds that she is drawn to him and the situation becomes more and more sexually charged.
Soon each of them is playing off the other’s desires. Then they find out the Inter-world Council is after them. Running from the council, Jax realizes that the two of them are mated, while Waverly fights this insight. However, with no safe haven insight, they end up returning to Jax’s home world, Jimlee, so that he can clear his name of the false charges he was accused of seven years before. But it’s there that they fall into the real nest of vipers!
In Heat is an awesome sci-fi romance. It has elements of technical sci-fi jargon, flight ships and reads like an episode of "Farscape," one of my favorite sci-fi shows. While I couldn't imagine the male species having a yearly mating cycle, think what they'd be like if they did. (Grin) Then to know that they still want sex the rest of the time too is pure pleasure. (LOL) Readers will find the public, yet private sexual interludes between Jax and Waverly extremely erotic. And lest the reader think In Heat is all about sex, it’s not! In Heat has a story too for it speaks to us of the importance of family, loyalty, individuality and love. Don't miss reading Leigh Wyndfield’s In Heat!
