Acting Like Family

When movie star and werewolf, Riker Montgomery, finds a strange woman in his hotel bed in Chicago, he’s not surprised. Women seem to show up in his bed all the time, despite the fact that he’d rather they didn’t. Riker soon discovers that there is something different about this woman though… she is his mate! After a fabulous night spent making love with the mysterious woman, Bet Black, Riker wakes up to discover she is gone. His heart cries out for her and he knows he’ll do everything in his power to find out where she has gone.

Bet runs from Riker when she discovers an article detailing how often women show up in his bed. She can’t believe how gullible she was, believing a handsome and sensual man like Riker couldn’t want her unless he was bored. Bet runs back to her home, only to discover that she’s pregnant with twins! Bet attempts to contact Riker over and over again, only to be rebuffed by his lawyer, August Livingston, who tells Bet that Riker isn’t ready for fatherhood.

Riker is desperate to find Bet. The more time he spends away from her, the more he needs her. He’d do anything to protect her and when his father gets a lead on where she might be, Riker is hopeful. Will Riker and family be able to rescue Bet from the people trying to attack to her and steal her babies or will they be too late?

This was a fast-paced and emotional story. The action started right away when Riker and Bet made love and it never stopped. There was a great ensemble cast, from Riker’s father Mik to his sexy brother Lakon. J. J. Massa gave each character their own distinctive personality that helped to enhance the storyline between Riker and Bet. I loved Riker’s powerful Alpha male personality and his ability to be a successful pack leader, despite the fact that he was grieving for Bet. Bet was a great heroine because she was willing to do anything in her power to keep her little family safe, no matter what the cost to herself. This is not to say she is a martyr because she was more than willing to accept help when offered. Her love for Riker shines through, even when she didn’t know if he remembered her. Acting Like Family really was a family affair and I hope that J. J. Massa will take the time to write Lakon’s story. This is a great werewolf story that will appeal to all fans of the genre.
