Hell’s Raging Fury
Brandy Sinclair’s life has been hell ever since her father passed away. Her father tried his best to protect her and her interests but it was all for naught. Her stepbrother rapes her and then he gives her to men who does the same thing. She has been subjected to physical trauma and mental cruelties. Now she has been thrown onto a ship bound for the colonies. Nick D’Long saves her and thus starts her new life.
Brandy is a girl who has to grow up quickly. Due to the death of her father, she is at the mercy of her step siblings who are up too no good. She suffers immense physical and mental degradation and it is to her credit she comes out of it intact. She is able to overcome her past due to the patience and love from Nick. Nick is the classic hero. He is a smuggler, pirate and spy. He is working against the British and could be hanged for treason. For him, Brandy is the woman of his dreams. He wants a permanent relationship with him but he needs to help her overcome her fear of intimacy with a man. The secondary characters of Darcy and Starlla are interesting and they have a nice ongoing romance. The villains are so evil that they are beyond redemption. The author has incorporated the beginnings of the American Revolution into her story with appearances by Paul Revere and Benjamin Franklin.
This book harkens back to the “bodice rippers” books. There is extreme violence perpetuated on the female characters (Brandy and Starlla) and if you are sensitive to that issue, then this is not the book for you. However, the author has written a touching story about the power of love and its ability to heal.
