Miss Fortune

Rachel Lear needs money. Her father, Aaron, has cut her off. Aaron feels his daughter needs to experience real life. Rachel is the “perpetual student” and her father fears she will never step outside her comfort zone. Dagne Delaney, Rachel’s best friend decides to help her with her money troubles. Rachel’s ex-boyfriend, Myron has gifted her with items over time from the museum store. Dagne decides to sell a few of these trinkets on eBay. Dagne also dabbles in white magic and casts a love spell for Rachel. Rachel begins to think it is working as she keeps bumping into a very attractive “James Bond” type man. Flynn Oliver is his real name but he is undercover investigating thefts from the museum.

Rachel is the youngest of the three sisters. She has been protected and cosseted by her family. Her “perpetual student” status keeps her in a safe place. She is in for a ride of her life as she tries to make it on her own. Like a normal woman, she is a little insecure with her body as she has always been on the heavy side. She trusts easily and falls for Flynn big time. She was attracted to him when she first met him and it just grows the more time they spend together. Flynn is a British blueblood (as his mother insists they are distantly related to a Duke). Debonair and handsome, he is a woman’s dream. He enjoys his career even though his mother would prefer him to do something else. He walked in on his ex-fiancé entertaining another gentleman but his mother still has hopes for them to get back together. He is a man on a mission but finds himself drawn to Rachel, his quarry. Rachel and Flynn find themselves falling deeper in lust and love with each other. They indulge in this attraction completely. These two build a relationship based on false perceptions. The reader will be pulled into the story as we want to know whether this relationship will survive once everything is exposed. Rachel and Flynn are extremely likable characters. While Flynn fits the stereotypical male hero, Rachel is atypical. She is overweight and is not drop dead gorgeous. However, these two fit as they do have chemistry together.

Miss Fortune is the third book about the Lear sisters. It provides the conclusion to Aaron and Bonnie’s relationship that was explored in the first two books as well as this one. It contains some very erotic love scenes and makes use of 21st century conveniences especially e-mail. Ms. London has fleshed out all the characters so the reader can visualize them. The plotline never dragged, as there was always something to catch your attention. The secondary characters are featured prominently especially Dagne, Joe and Myron. They fulfill their function splendidly as they interject humor as well as moving the story forward. Miss Fortune is a solid conclusion to this series, which readers of the first two books will thoroughly enjoy.
