Teaching Elena

Elena Richardson wants to break free of the protective bubble her brother, John, has put around her life. She wants to lose her virginity, but has not been able to since half the men in town are afraid of her brother and the other half think of her as a kid sister. While looking for a new employee, she meets Luke Thomas. Elena knows that Luke will more than fit the bill. He is new in town, so he does not know her brother and cannot be intimidated by John and his big beautiful body will more than satisfy her. Elena propositions Luke and he accepts. The two begin a very torrid, no commitments affair. As time passes, Elena begins to want commitments from Luke. When Luke compares her to his ex-wife, Elena wonders if her love can overcome Luke’s suspicions.

Luke Thomas is attracted to Elena Richardson the minute he walks into her lingerie shop. Elena does not realize that he is her landlord, not a potential employee. When she propositions him, he is intrigued. After his ex-wife’s betrayal, Luke does not want commitments. He demands that while they are involved Elena not become involved with anyone else. Having seen Elena in another man’s arms, Luke believes she is just like his ex-wife and ends his relationship with her.

Ms. Casper has created a truly exceptional tale. Elena and Luke are memorable characters. I enjoyed that both were commitment phobic but were instantly committed to one another. I also liked how Ms. Casper built the romance of Elena and Luke. Sex may have been their original intention; yet Luke and Elena manage to fall in love. All of the normal things plague their relationship – jealousy, insecurity, nosy relatives, but love conquers in the end. This is a wonderful book.
