Refusing to watch their planet die because of one man’s greed, the movement to save Turas embarks on a radical plan. What transpires from their mission is beyond what any of them could have fathomed.

Kayla Jardane believes in her people's cause. She has experienced firsthand the greed and corruption that threaten her planet. Going to Colony III was supposed to bring a reprieve against the destruction and perhaps a measure of her honor back as well. However, as she races across the land, chased by Searchers, she prays for her very life.

Dolph Rynard has his own reasons for being on Colony III. Yet, as he watched the lone figure pursued mercilessly by the Searchers, he did the unthinkable and intervened. This jaded Hunter soon finds himself looking at the most beautiful, courageous woman he has ever met. In order to keep her safe, he handcuffs her to himself. However, when it is time to separate, he discovers he has lost the key. As the danger surrounding them mounts, can Dolph carry out his true mission and somehow keep her safe?

Hostage Hearts is an intense, enjoyable story. The action begins immediately and rarely falters during the telling. The author brings to life the barren wastelands that Kayla and Dolph find themselves in. Ms Thompson’s descriptions of other beings and planets enrich the elements of this sci-fi story. However, it will be the hero and heroine that fascinate readers. The interaction between Kayla and Dolph is well told; the initial mistrust between them is believable. For such a tough man, the tender side Dolph reveals to Kayla is moving. Ms. Thompson develops their relationship well. From distrust and caution to a friendship and passion unlike anything either has known, their relationship is touching. The intent of the villain is well-explained and makes readers shudder at the thought that he might succeed. The plot moves quickly and culminates in an ending that displays the strength and commitment of these two individuals.
