Stone Maiden
When gargoyles offer their protection, you know things are bound to get interesting.
Ariel Knight has seen and done just about everything; when you live a few thousand years that tends to happen. Having been recently released from service as gargoyles, Ariel and her sisters now run the Knight Security Agency, an agency that specializes in protection from all sorts of things most people don’t want to know about. Ariel and her sisters think at first that Logan McAllister is going to be a routine job, but when Logan is beset by attacking zombies, vampires and succubus there appears to be more to him than meets the eye.
Logan McAllister would really like to know when his world went crazy. He is just a songwriter, not the target of some nefarious plot. When his business manager hires a bodyguard, he has some definite objections. When he meets Ariel, he is willing to overlook his objections in the hopes of getting to know this woman better. However, when their first night together is filled with zombies and vampires intent on getting the family jewels, he acknowledges that protection might not be a bad idea while they sort out what is really going on. In a world when his protector has experienced most of what life has to offer, they will both be surprised by what fate has in store for them.
Stone Maiden is phenomenal!! Pure fun! The paranormal beasties in this just don’t stop. The original plot flows quickly and engages readers immediately with its blend of refreshing dialogue and action. The interplay between all the characters is well done and lets readers get to know not only Ariel and Logan but also the secondary characters. There is more to these gargoyles than just great bodies and paranormal abilities. The author has crafted them with integrity and caring. I like the love of life that is apparent in their actions and attitudes. Even as they confront unpleasant things, there is a levity that kept this reviewer entertained. Tina Gerow is new to this reviewer, but she has impressed me with her definite talent for creating dialogue that will keep you laughing, as well as her ability to display the nuances of personal relationships. The emotions between Logan and Ariel are heartwarming and definitely add to the tension as events conspire against them. Ms. Gerow brings Stone Maiden to a close with displays of action, love, and friendship that had me wanting to clap in appreciation. Stone Maiden appears to be the first in what promises to be a fun, creative series that should not be missed.
