Gabriel’s Ghost
In Linnea Sinclair’s Gabriel’s Ghost, Captain Chasidah Bergren is liberated by her supposedly dead former antagonist.
Chasidah Bergren is an ex-fleet Captain struggling to survive on Moabar after she was court-marshaled on false accusations. Unexpectedly, Sullivan arrives, offering her the opportunity to escape Moabar as long as she helps him. What does Sully really want, though? Can she trust a known smuggler and mercenary? Does she have a choice?
Gabriel Ross Sullivan is on a vital mission, and he requires Chasidah’s assistance. If he fails, the future of the empire and the people he cares about is doomed. He trusts Chasidah; however, he fears her lack of trust in him will impair their task. Moreover, Sully has a shocking secret he hopes to shield Chasidah from. Will Sully’s secret shatter Chasidah’s burgeoning trust?
Sully’s flawless getaway is stymied by continuous sabotage. With no reason to suspect those around him, Gabriel and Chasidah must uncover who their hidden enemy is before their mission fails due to distrust, resentment, and animosity. Gabriel’s Ghost evocatively reveals that malice and greed may well hide behind an angelic face. Gabriel’s Ghost is a riveting tale of avarice, duplicity, madness, and malevolence. Linnea Sinclair deftly renders the anguish and despair that comes from constant rejection. Will Chasidah be able to see past her fleet training to the reality of Sully's inner self or will she rebuff him on principle?
I could not stop reading this book, despite the late hour and early morning wake-up. I hope that Ms. Sinclair continues Sully and Chasidah’s saga, for I miss them already. Gabriel’s Ghost cleverly weaves romance and passion into a brilliant and innovative story than any SF fan will love.
