Turn My World Upside Down: Jo’s Story

Josefina (Jo) Marconi’s life has been turned upside down. Now that her father has suddenly taken off on a European holiday with his lady friend, and because both her sisters are pregnant, she has been left to run the family’s construction business single-handedly, while at the same time secretly trying to finish her college degree. Jo’s also had to move back into the family home, while her father’s gone, to take care of her ten-year-old half brother; the brother she and her sisters hadn’t known existed until a few months ago. As if that wasn’t enough to handle, Nana’s called to say she’s coming to visit and Jo’s past, a past she’s kept secret and tried to bury, will return to haunt her.

Since settling permanently in Chandler, California, Cash Hunter has earned the reputation of “The Lady Whisperer”. Lately though, he’s only interested in Jo Marconi. She’s as irritating as she is attractive; she snaps and snarls at him and is full of smart comebacks for each of his advances. As much as Cash tries to talk himself out of it, he can’t help but want her. Jo believes that denying her feelings and attempting to ignore Cash will make him go away. Will it?

With a great opening line, that firmly establishes Cash’s reputation, Maureen Child quickly grabbed my attention, intrigued me and had me laughing. Turn My World Upside Down is full of witty dialogue and wonderfully warm, real characters. There is more to the characters than first might appear, with layers being revealed as the story develops. Jo and Cash’s journey sees them dealing with chaos, mayhem and secrets; through it all, they learn to love, trust and forgive. Turn My World Upside Down is the third story in Maureen Child’s Marconi Sisters trilogy. Characters from the previous two stories as well as from the Candellano series appear in this tale, offering readers the chance to catch up with some old friends. I was utterly enchanted with Turn My World Upside Down and could not put it down; it is a terrific contemporary romance that I eagerly devoured in one sitting. For me, Turn My World Upside Down was a fabulous introduction to the writings of Maureen Child and if you'll excuse me, I'm off to purchase the rest of the series and any additional Maureen Child stories I can find! 5 Angels & a Recommended Read!
