Exposure

Exposure is the last book in the Last Chance, Inc. trilogy.

The Last Chance team is once again assembled when a terrorist intends to unleash a deadly nerve gas in New York. Nigel and Melissa come face to face at a party after 15 years and learn more about each other in thirty seconds than they ever new before. She’s CIA, he’s with the British Intelligence, both are little facts they neglected to tell each other the last time around. Now it seems that they have no choice but to work together.

Someone has gone to a lot of trouble to make it look like Melissa killed her handler, not knowing what to do she calls Nigel. Cullen, the self-appointed leader of the Last Chance team isn’t happy with the turn of events. With nerve gas headed straight for the US, the team can afford any distractions. Yet the more they look into it, the more it seems Melissa is in more danger than they suspected and she is somehow connected to their case. Nigel may not be able to control his body’s reaction to Melissa, but he won’t let his heart become involved. Melissa had no problem walking away from him fifteen years ago and he doesn’t intend to let her have that much power over him again. If they can just keep their hands off each other and make it out of this alive, they might be able to revisit what was between them all those years ago.

Exposure is without a doubt a nail-biting, keep you on the edge of your seat kind of story. During the last pages, I literally held my breath. Dee Davis cleverly builds the suspense to that pivotal moment of does good triumph over evil or will all be lost? With heart pounding moments, this book just keeps getting better and better. The villain in this story is truly evil. He intends to commit horrific terrorist acts and doesn’t care how many innocent people he kills in the process. This man is on a mission; he intends to seek justice against those who caused the deaths of his family. What’s terrifying is that although you can’t relate to his dementia, it’s the pain of losing his family that put him on this present course. Dee Davisprovides a reunion of sorts with all the team assembled. All of the characters, all of the couples together again makes Exposure a great end to this fantastic trilogy. Exposure is one of the best romantic suspense books I’ve read all year.
