Moon's Web

Once an assassin for the mafia, Tony Giodone finds himself being relocated to Chicago, along with his human mate Sue. As a newly changed shape-shifter, courtesy of mafia boss Carmine Leone's girlfriend, he is placed with a pack called the Sazi and is to go through extensive training as the “omega” wolf. Not one to remain the underdog, Tony bucks up and lashes out, quickly bringing attention to himself and his special powers. He has been gifted with “hindsight”, a very rare power amongst the Sazi, and one he must learn to utilize, for there is a new villain in town.

Female members of the Sazi are beginning to go missing, including Babs, the Alpha wolf responsible for Tony's new werewolf status. Carmine is willing to do anything to have his beloved returned to him, including launching a war against an unknown enemy. With the secrecy of the Sazi at risk, Tony is asked to call upon his assassin skills once more and bring down the someone, or something, responsible.

Throw in a conference involving all of the Sazi world leaders, going on at the same time, and Tony finds himself in one heap of a mess. Will he be able to gain control over his new gift, catch the bad guy, and deal with the higher-ups or will this mission prove too much for the hitman master?

Moon's Web is a wonderful paranormal romance, offering a new twist on the shape-shifting theme. Every animal imaginable is found within the pages of this book, all part of an elite organization called the Sazi. Things start off on a familiar note with your typical werewolf but readers will soon find themselves reading about oddities such as snakes and lizards. I also enjoyed the fact that this story is told from the male, first person, perspective. It really put a fresh spin on things and made the story a unique, but satisfying read. A wild cast of secondary characters only served to heighten the enjoyment level, bringing extra humor and action into the story line. I highly recommend you read the first book in this series, Hunter's Moon, before attempting to read Moon's Web. Although it can stand alone, there were several areas that referred back to the first book that left me feeling a little lost. That said, the writing team of C.T. Adams & Cathy Clamp has an outstanding series on its hands and this reviewer is anxiously awaiting the next book in line!
