Eyes of Darkness Book 2: Spark Of A Wolf

Sean McMurray is an Aspen Police Department Detective in the midst of trying to solve the horrible and heinous crime spree plaguing the small resort town. Not only is Sean riddled with cases full of baffling circumstances, he is also dealing with many personal trials. He finds himself overcome with headaches, unable to sleep, and plagued by weird dreams that seem more like nightmares. Following a lead in his case, he happens to meet a woman that sparks a flame in him that he is unable and unprepared to understand.

Rhiannon Drake, Rhi, is a hiking guide for the natural park. She loves nature and nature loves her. Rhiannon is a compassionate spitfire that has a secret: one that must be kept in order to ensure the safety of those around her. When she learns a cop needs to see her in regards to a case he is working, she agrees. Never did she imagine that she would need his help as much as he needs hers.
In a moment of panic, Rhi rushes Sean to the safety of the Sanctuary. Sean wakes to a strange surrounding filled with people he has never met, and that is only the beginning of what is in store for him. When all the pieces start coming together in regards to Sean’s unusual medical problems and abilities, Sean is overwhelmed with emotions and grief. Lashing out in a moment of anger, he does and says more than one should to the only person that truly accepted him for who he really is. After finding herself emotionally devastated by the one she loves, Rhi is kidnapped, caged, and abused by men driven by greed and power. Sean’s desperate attempt to prove his love once again is left hanging in the balance when the woman he loves is abducted. Will Sean be able to save Rhi and convince her that he was wrong? Can Rhi be strong enough to fight the impending danger she is in to protect those she loves? Will Sean come to embrace who and what he is in time to accept his destiny and the ones he loves?

Christy Poff has written a wonderful story where Sean and Rhiannon find their lives are on a fast track, rollercoaster of danger, uncertainty, and erotic passion. Not only are the characters beautifully portrayed, but the plot is riddled with many twists and turns, sure to keep readers on the edge of their seats. Sean is a true alpha even if he does not know it yet and Rhi is just as stubborn. The different levels of emotions that they go through are intense and rewarding for readers to experience. The sizzling and feisty passion between them will leave readers breathless and aching for more.

This short story was a pleasure to read and one that I will definitely recommend to others. Eyes of Darkness Book 2: Spark Of A Wolf is the second story in the Eyes of Darkness series and I hope that there is a third one out there waiting to grace the pages of a book. I have not read the first story, but I am planning on adding it to my collection very soon. This story is wonderfully written as a stand alone book, but I imagine it only makes the series more enjoyable when you read them all. The bits of danger and passion that Sean and Rhi encounter held me captivated in suspense; while the passion will leave readers flustered. These are two characters that I will remember for some time. Christy Poff has done a tremendous job writing a story well worth its rating of 5 Angels!
