Scarecrow & Betsy McGee Book II: Mattress Games
Betsy McGee is in need of a job so she arrives at the address listed in the newspaper, Gianelli Mattress Factory, to apply and is pleasantly surprised when offered an even better position. Feeling like a weight has been lifted off of her shoulders; she heads home only to realize that her day has turned out nothing like she thought. Her mystery man from a few weeks ago is now standing behind her. When she thought she would never see him again, she had been a little disappointed. Although, she is not prepared to see him again or for the information he shares with her.
When Roarke sees an opportunity to obtain inside information, he is excited. He just is not sure if he is more excited about the chance to break a case or about his chance coming in the form of Betsy McGee from the Triple D Spa. Something about her got under his skin and he just cannot seem to get it out. Approaching her to ask for help, he is overwhelmed once again with his inability to remain composed in her company.
With Roarke and Betsy set to infiltrate the mattress factory for information that will lead to a successful closure to Roarke’s case, they see a chance to maybe rekindle the desire from the spa. Will they be able to concentrate on the case or will all the available places to lie down get in the way?
Trixie Stilletto has created a follow-up short story to Scarecrow & Betsy McGee Book I: Triple D that is a wonderful, delightful story to read. Although I have not read the first story in this series, I was pleasantly surprised to have enough background information to intrigue my interest right away. The author writes this story beautifully and allows the reader a chance to read it as a stand alone book. However the author adds hints along the way that will cause readers to jump at the chance to go back and read the missed stories as well as be motivated and pick up each new one as they come along. Both Roarke and Betsy’s personalities are pleasant and believable. Roarke is a strong law enforcement agent that handles everything that needs to be handled yet can’t seem to handle himself around Betsy. Betsy is a single mom struggling to take care of herself and her son while remaining strong and brave. Readers will love both of these characters immediately. Trixie Stilletto has written a touching short story with a hint of danger and suspense. This story is truly worth every one of the 5 Angels it earned!
