Emery LaRue has written a wonderful quick read with The Portal. This story offers four tremendous characters that each bring a different quality to the plot. Brillasse is a fierce warrior that will fight against evil and for what she wants. Roveena is a sensitive, compassionate companion for Brillasse. Ike and Tony are both ex-special forces soldiers ready for any fight even if they don’t know what they are getting themselves into. Each couple brings the pages to life with their own passionate chemistry. The passion between Brillasse and Ike and Roveena and Tony is heartfelt and erotic to say the least. Will Brillasse and Roveena be able to defeat the evil they have come after? Can Ike and Tony accept Brillasse and Roveena for who and what they are? Can there be a lasting love between two people that are from such different worlds?

This short story was a pleasure to read. The Portal immediately draws readers in with the suspenseful world of paranormal and electrifying erotic passion. The mix of characters, to include the strong willed fighters and the sensitive compassionate, is a rewarding blend. Whether readers enjoy a feisty dominant or gentle natured mate, they will be pleased to find it in this story. There is definitely a character that readers will initially connect with. Emery LaRue has created a wonderfully written story and earned 4 Angels!
