Skull Music
Charlie Wolfe had a career in Milwaukee as an investigative reporter until the stress of the big city life decided it was time for a change. When she moved to a small ski resort in Michigan, she had no idea of the mystery that would begin to unfold before her eyes. The small town of Ironwood wasn’t the typical place for grisly murders but Charlie soon found herself reporting on multiple victims. A serial killer is on the loose and the town is growing with a list of suspects in connection with the killings. Kidneys and hearts are ripped literally from the bodies while they are still breathing. And to make matters worse she enlists the help of David, an attorney, who has worked with some of the victims. The only problem, her heart has feelings toward David and she doesn’t know if that is a good or bad.
David Ashbeck has feelings for one woman but she doesn’t pay him any attention. He doesn’t understand the desires he holds for Charlie. When Charlie asks for his help, his mind seems to dwell more on her instead of concentrating on the murders. In the midst of trying to figure her out, combined with the murders, he soon faces his worst nightmare when Charlie comes up missing. He has to find her before he loses the stubborn woman he loves.
Skull Music is a book that grabs. It is filled with revenge, intrigue and a serial killer that is gruesomely cruel. The secondary characters blend in to make this book more climatic. I kept flipping the pages earnestly reaching the conclusion wondering if David would find his beloved Charlie before the serial killer struck again. The dialogue is smooth flowing with the characters. This is a high tech suspense that takes you way over the edge. Ms. Williams creates a story that is worth the wait. I loved the way the author depicted the characters of Charlie and David with the chemistry they shared. Billie Williams has written a highly charged book that is explosive. She has a skill for writing and is an absolute marvel when it comes to putting words on paper.
