Lily Kane is trying to bury her past as a saloon singer and re-establish herself as a respectable dressmaker in a town where no one knows her. No sooner than she arrives in the town, she meets Carter Hawkins. She detests men in his profession, yet there is something about him that touches her heart. Carter Hawkins is a saloon owner, gambler and drinker. He does not want to spend the rest of his life sitting and watching every stagecoach that rolls into town. In fact, he is just about to sell his saloon and resume his wandering when he meets Lila. He is drawn to the prim and proper seamstress. He realizes that he must stay away from her or he will ruin her reputation. When she receives a threatening letter, can he protect her before any harm comes her way?

The Lucky Lady was a book that had me hooked as soon as the characters met. I absolutely loved how Lila described Carter’s eyes. The way Lila and Carter meet, combined with how they join together when danger enters her life, displayed much tender emotion. Ms. Quinn allowed the characters to feel, and to experience in a way that I felt like I was right next to them. I loved the way Ms. Quinn incorporated the story about how Carter cared for the girls in the saloon.

Ms. Quinn is an incredible storyteller who has written a gripping and soul-stirring love story. This was a tender, loving romance that stole my heart. Every time I read a book by Janet Quinn, I feel like I have been transported into another time. She is truly a gifted writer, and is full of talent that gets better just like fine wine.
