Jesse Tyler accepts the kindness of her Aunt Hattie and Uncle David Long, thinking that she’ll be safe from her father. Unfortunately, even they can't protect her. Jesse is her father’s property and must do what he says or tolerate the consequences. She wonders why God allows her to continue suffering. She sets out to escape to only have a bullet land in her back. When the town sheriff greets her, she doesn’t understand why he doesn’t care for God. Sheriff Russ Martin knows about the Tyler gang. They were responsible for his wife’s murder. He knows that Jesse had nothing to do with the murder, and for some reason feels sorry for her. When she goes to live with her aunt and uncle, he doesn’t understand how his heart can ache for her during her absence. He hates what her family did to his life but there is something that continues to draw him to her. Can he find his faith again and have a life with Jesse when his heart holds so much hatred?

The Outlaw’s Daughter is a must-read. I was immediately spellbound with the characters of Jesse and Russ. The way Jesse desperately wants to be free of her abusive father, plus how Russ wants to love her even though he despises her family for what they have done to his life, make this book a page-turner. Ms. Derr-Wille paints the characters well and gives them depth. I could practically feel their doubts, fears, and sufferings.

Sherry Derr-Willie has once again created a wonderful, emotional masterpiece. Two lost souls, who have lost so much, finally find each other, even as they try to understand what path they must follow in their life. This is a true love story that will make you truly believe in miracles. Ms. Derr-Willie is an impeccable storyteller who will capture your heart.
