The Outlaw’s Son

Gary Tyler has always wanted to live respectfully but having a Pa as an outlaw changed his life. When he is arrested and stands trial he is sure that he will be hanged for murder. Instead the Judge’s sentence is only for bank robbery. He is surprised with the verdict. Being the son of a notorious outlaw, many people would rather see him with a noose around his neck. He is released to one of the jury members, Eli Otto, a Christian, to work on his farm while under police jurisdiction. Eli sees the good in Gary but Eli's granddaughter has her doubts. Can Gary prove to them that he isn’t anything like his family while trying to find the love that surrounds this Christian home?

Clara Otto, Eli’s granddaughter, is immediately drawn to Gary but is still a bit uneasy because he still carries the Tyler last name. In her heart, she knows that she cannot abide his professed disbelief in God. She wonders if she can bring him to the Lord with him living under her roof. If not, will she be able to walk away from the love that is slowly building in her heart?

The Outlaw’s Son is a book that drew me right into the story. The character of Gary was very well written especially when he realizes God has touched him and that he can turn his life around. Clara is certainly believable as she finally sees that there is good in Gary. I cheered for Gary all through the book. I was deeply touched by the emotions that the two displayed.

Sherry Derr-Wille makes reading an adventure. She paints a picturesque beauty that brings not only the characters alive but the scenery and world around them. This story will move you and make you believe. Sherry Derr-Wille certainly knows how to captivate her readers. This book is truly a keeper!
