A Change of Season

Moira is descended from one of the Blessed Ones and gifted with empathic powers. When she starts receiving painful psychic flashes of a man, Lord Cyric, she tries to continue as if nothing has happened. When a second man’s visage joins his, she can deny them no longer. After traveling to Dain’s castle, Moira is stranded there for a harsh winter. While there, she learns of Dain’s dark secret and begins to care for him and his light-hearted brother. Moira believes she was sent to Dain for a reason, but that reason could kill her.

I have always enjoyed Anya Bast’s books and this one is no exception. She weaves a rich tapestry with her descriptive words and realistic characters. Moira is a strong woman who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to take it. Dain is just dark enough to want to heal him, but not so dark that there’s no hope. Killian is just plain fun. I cannot wait to read his story. Ms. Bast always builds an intricate world and this one is the best. The idea that there are inherited traits bringing magic and other attributes to the descendents of those blessed by the gods is ingenious. Once again, Anya Bast writes a series that is a must-buy.
