Haunting Love Alley

Two hundred years ago a family was split apart by the hatred and greed of one man. The murder he committed set in place a cascade of events felt throughout the years.

Louis Beekman inherited what he thought was a house and some land; little did he know what he was getting into. He inherited Love Alley and its supernatural inhabitants. Love Alley is an antebellum mansion in the bayou that was once one of the most profitable and memorable of New Orleans’ brothels. Run by the infamous Claudine Lavalieres, men came from far and wide just to visit her girls. Now it is an aging lady filled with echoes from her past. Foremost of those are the whispers and dreams from Claudine herself. After having too many inexplicable encounters, Louis is compelled to call Cory Lavalle, a psychic trying to make ends meet in New Orleans. When she comes out to the plantation the sparks really start to fly. An amazing tale unfolds with love at the heart of it.

Wow, this is a great story. The background story of Claudine and Baptiste made me cry right at the beginning, and then the plane scene made me laugh out loud! I have been on an emotional roller coaster since I started reading. These authors did a great job capturing and conveying the emotions throughout the book. The heat factor of this book is blistering. I had to take a few breaks just to cool off! The sensuality of the Deep South and the poignancy of a remembered New Orleans are so well written that it was hard to return to the cold north where I live. I hope to see more collaborations by Sahara Kelly and SL Carpenter.
