Jayna Incarnate

Samantha Bennett is being treated for depression. She undergoes a radical and experimental treatment. But something goes wrong during this treatment and her soul is sent back in time to the year 1745 where Jayna Conroy is. Jayna’s escape from the pirate Shoale is physically demanding but Jayna is saved and taken to the Abbey. The nuns nurse her back to health. Sister Bethany believes she has received a vision from God to take Jayna back to her home in the Highlands Jayna meets Mackenzie MacAndrews, head of the MacAndrews clan and a spark flares between them. However, Shoale is not about to give up looking for her.

Jayna is a wonderful heroine. She has all the qualities one could want for a female lead. She is brave, honest, hardworking and extremely lovable. Mackenzie is a yummy hero. He is the perfect counterpart to Jayna. These two are electric together. The reader can feel the warmth between them. Mackenzie is able to accept Jayna as she is with all her flaws and more importantly, what happened to her in the past. Shoale, Antonio and Victoria are some of the secondary characters that stand out from the rest. They provide much to the storyline.

Jayna Incarnate is an entertaining time travel romance. The transitions between the past and present are done smoothly. There is a lot of action on all levels and the characters endure a physical work out. There are mentions of historical facts and the author weaves them into her story quite well. Ms. Shoup’s book is a definite page turner as you won’t want to stop until the very end!
