Nightlight: A Jacks and Hill Mystery
Abby Westin, a therapist at Lakeland Mental Hospital, specializes in creative writing therapy and is reading through her patient, Charlie “Hill” Hilton’s, diary that she had encouraged him to write in. Abby knows that everyone believes that Hill is crazy with all his talk of being abducted by aliens but she believes that something did happen to him and the truth about what happened is in the diary he gave her.
Mitch “Jacks” Jackson is Hill’s best friend, former partner, and knows that his friend has problems and needs help. Jacks is committed to do anything he can to help Hill and believes that Abby is good for Hill and that her work with him has been helpful.
When Hill, demanding that she give him back the diary before “they” hurt her, follows Abby, outside of the hospital one night after work she calls Jacks and together they try to figure out what all the scribbles and drawings in the diary mean, in an attempt to get to the truth of what had happened to Hill.
Abby and Jacks are surrounded by danger in their mission to save Hill and soon start developing feelings for one another. Can they dig deep enough to shed some light into the dark? Will secrets that are more sinister surround them all?
Nightlight: A Jacks and Hill Mystery is an intriguing story of murder, mayhem, and mystery woven around Hill’s inability to remember incidents in the past. Abby and Jacks are very strong characters, with good chemistry, that are well written and have an abundance of compassion. I enjoyed the humor from Hill and his strong protective instincts. The plot line moves along swiftly with a few twists and turns that will leave the reader wondering what will happen next. If you love a good mystery then I think you will enjoy Nightlight: A Jacks and Hill Mystery.
