Mac, a licensed therapist who works for the San Diego Child Protective Services, drops the bombshell that Jennifer’s mother is dead and that Jennifer now has a sister to take care of.

Shelter from the Storm by Lara Williams is a book that you must have! It arouses emotions that make you laugh, cry, cheer and jeer! There are too many parts to list or tell you about as the emotions flowed right out of me unchecked while I read this wonderful book! One of the scenes that made me laugh was when Mac was trying to help Jennifer come to grips with some of her feelings and let them out; he tells her funny secrets about first floor neighbor, the elderly Ms. James, and how she used to be a man. It is little scenes like these that will keep you guessing at what is coming next.

Not only did I love the story but the characters all were so well-written that I felt as if I was watching a movie unfold before my very eyes. Shelter from the Storm was so full of life’s little moments that I would recommend this book to everyone out there. Not only do you want a man like Mac in your life, you want an author like Lara Williams to entice you into a book that is tempting, teasing and oh-so-pleasing. I can assure you that I will be on the lookout for anything else she writes!
