Most people have wondered at some point in their lives how they would react to a life-altering event, such as being confined to a wheelchair. In Reprise, Morgan J. Blake offers a unique and insightful glimpse into the day in the life of a woman facing such a transition. In less than twenty pages, the reader is treated to Cassie’s honest emotions, insecurity, and sheer will to keep trying. The stranger turns out to be much less of a stranger than Cassie originally thought. His kindness and humor towards Cassie will touch readers’ hearts as easily as he touched Cassie’s. Morgan J. Blake is to be applauded for being able to instill emotion, humor, and a believable situation in so few pages. This is a definitely a short story worth picking up.
