Deadly Obsession

Deadly Obsession is the third book in Jaycee Clark’s Deadly series and is an absolute must read!

To say that Christian is unhappy with Brayden would be a vast understatement. After secretly loving Brayden for years, one night they end up in bed together. Christian is ecstatic with the thought of all her dreams coming true. In the midst of making love, Brayden whispers his love for Christian as she whispers her love for him; she couldn’t be happier. Christian’s happiness is short lived as the sun comes up and the look on Brayden’s face is anything but loving. He tells her that the night they shared was a mistake; he says she is practically family that it shouldn’t have happened. Christian is deeply hurt and furious at Brayden’s change of heart. She’s even more infuriated as he phrases their current relationship as “playing house”. Christian thought they were becoming so much more than that and if Brayden thought she was “playing” at anything…well, she’d show him.

Since the night they made love, Brayden has not been able to bridge the distance between him and Christian. Not only is Christian distant but also she appears to be very afraid. Only no matter what he does, she won’t confide in him. Brayden never wanted things to be like this. He never wanted them to be at such odds with each other. Daily he remembers what it was like to hold her in his arms, to have been so close to her; now she seems so far away. When Christian is brutally attacked in her home, feelings of despair bring Brayden to his knees. After being so stubborn and pig-headed about the night they spent together, to suddenly almost lose her is more than he could handle. Brayden loves her, why he couldn’t face that before now was beyond him. Christian will need him more than ever, but will she accept him back in her life? Brayden will do whatever needs doing to help her heal, to have her open her heart to him again. He can’t loose her now, not when he’s just realized how much she means to him. Yet what Brayden doesn’t understand and what might actually tear them apart is Christian knows who hurt her, although she lied about it. She knows and won’t tell any of them. Christian’s keeping her secrets close to her and it could very well be the death of them.

Jaycee Clark has delivered a masterpiece! Deadly Obsession is accurately titled as this story is chilling and terrifying in the wake of one man’s obsession. Ms. Clark again takes one of society’s worst, little talked about, sins and has turned it into a must read novel. There is nothing worse than a man who prays and terrorizes a child. What makes this story all the more chilling is the obsession doesn’t stop once Christian has managed to escape. As she has always feared, her tormentor has found her once again. Deadly Obsession is simply remarkable! I could not put this book down. I cried when Christian cried, the creaks and groans of my own home made me jump, and I was frustrated right along with Brayden when he couldn’t get Christian to trust him with her secret. That’s how real Ms. Clark has made this book. Also worth mentioning is the strength Ms. Clark has infused Christian with. Sure she’s terrified and wants to hide where it’s safe, but when the chips are down she’s quite capable of standing up for herself. The love between Brayden and Christian is as passionate as it is over-whelming and it is pleasurable to read about. This story just draws readers in on so many levels. Deadly Obsession can be read as a stand alone, but in this reviewer’s opinion is even better when read with the previous two titles Deadly Shadows and Deadly Ties. The highest of praise to Jaycee Clark, Deadly Obsession is outstanding!!!
