The Night Warriors are an ancient race of protectors who hunt the Beasts – those who humans call vampires. She is from the Hunter clan, and she is in Armen territory to live on the wild side for a few hours. But Jacob and Stephanie discover that you simply cannot predict when and with whom love will appear.

When I started reading the story, I was a bit confused – I felt like I had jumped into the middle of a novel without reading the beginning. That probably should not be a surprise, since this is a short story (70 pages) in the Night Warriors series, and it’s often difficult to include backstory in subsequent installments in the series. This story is from the middle of the series, and the reader would understand more of the story if they read the previous volumes. (Don’t worry – you can also figure out the details as you go along!) That said, I thought this was an interesting story, with engaging characters. Stephanie and Jacob grow and develop along with the story. Each is rebelling against the customs of their people, in large or small ways. The man/woman love scenes are very sensual. An enjoyable read!
