Again The Magic

Lisa Kleypas takes her readers on a journey back into history with her latest novel Again the Magic.

Lady Aline Marsden fell in love with a man below her station. John McKenna had been her best friend growing up and now that friendship had turned into more. When her father caught word of what was happening he immediately had McKenna removed from his property, but only after Lady Aline made a deal with him to save the man she loved from total destruction. McKenna’s leaving and Aline’s heartbreak will cause a mishap that she will have to live with for the rest of her life.

McKenna watched the one woman he wanted throw him away like he was just another conquest she had undertaken and won. After being tossed out of the only place he ever called home, he had to learn real quick how to make it on his own. Twelve years later he l returns to Stony Cross but this time he is a man of fortune and he will let no one toss him out until he has his revenge. McKenna has never forgiven the woman who so callously disregarded the heart he had given her.

Now face-to-face both Aline and McKenna each have their own plans. Hers is to stay away from him and keep the events of the past where they belong, in the past. For there are things she hopes McKenna will never know. He, on the other hand, has come home for revenge, and he will not be happy until he has seduced and hurt her. Who will win this battle of wills?

Again the Magic is a breathtaking story! Fans of Historical Regency will not want to miss this must read book of 2004. McKenna is a hero to fall in love with. He is a very easy to love character. Even though his goal is to take revenge on Lady Aline, he still has honor and a heart. Ms. Kleypas did an excellent job in creating these two characters. Lady Aline is a heroine that most will admire. She faces adversity and perseveres until she is triumphant. Never one to take things sitting down, it is delightful to watch her take on the very persistent McKenna.

Ms. Kleypas also gives readers the side story of Lady Aline’s sister Livia and a very handsome American, Gideon Shaw. These two characters could have very easily had their own book, but their story is still a fantastic addition to Again the Magic. This is definitely an author to keep on your must read list. She well deserves the praise she has gotten from New York Times.
