Lionel, one of the last of the Gryphon kind, must soon find a mate or risk losing the Gryphon race completely. He soon realizes it is Teema, a long time friend, that he wants to be his partner. His mistake is telling her it is the most logical of solutions. Teema is a Werewolf and their emotions run high. She will not be subjected to a mating of logical reasoning but will mate only for love. She loves Lionel but she wants him to love her as well.

Teema transforms into a Gryphon to show Lionel that she can be all that he searches for, but when her plan backfires on her, she realizes it is Lionel who needs to prove his love to her. Will Lionel figure out in time that she is what he wants or is it time for Teema to move on?

Lena Austin has truly created a must read series with just this first book! This reviewer does not normally read books in this genre but just the synopsis had me wanting to find out more. The imagination and creativity of Ms. Austin is shown in this magical world of shapeshifters. The creatures in this story can change forms from anything to humans and unicorns to werewolves and vampires. Lionel is definitely the type of man that fantasies are made of. Teema will also win readers’ hearts. She loves Lionel but she will make him prove that there is love between them and not just “logical” reasons for their mating.

The only complaint on this book at all was that the 48 pages went by too fast. This reviewer wanted more! If you read one book this fall you should read this one. It is truly worth your time. Unicorn Valley 2: Stallion’s Heart is definitely next on this readers list.
