Gift of the Night Flyer

Count Ignatio feels a strong pull of desire for the stranded lady with the broken carriage and offers her his aid and the hospitality of his manor. He soon finds that Lady Leslie is not in distress at all, for her plan was to lure the Count into her bed and give him her "gift". For in reality, Lady Leslie is a vampiress looking for a life mate with a sexual appetite equal to her own. But all her plans did not include the Count's sadistic manners in the bedroom, for he seems to take pleasure in roughness and cruelty not the tenderness and passion she hoped for. When the Stewarts, a young couple deeply in love and about to become parents, enter their lives and their home and, everything changes. Each see the love and tenderness they truly want and events begin that lead to disaster and drastic changes for all the people involved.

Although this book only weighs in at around 100 pages, it reads like a fuller length tale. It is a saga of passion, danger, betrayal of following the wrong path, and wanting desperately to find the way to the right path. Gift of the Nightflyer has the flavor of the gothic tales of old, heavy and ominous in tone with erotic flavorings thrown in. The intensity of the sex scenes is haunting. The main characters are at times hard to sympathize with, but as the story developed, so did a compassion for them as they learned to adapt and grow due to situations they find are thrust upon them. By the story's end I was sad to see them go, intrigued by the 'nightflyer' part of the plot, and I am glad to hear there is indeed a sequel planned for the future.
