Rand Farar has an interesting life. As an Interstellar Contraband runner he has little to look forward to. Being shot at by Revenuers, hunted for whatever cargo he happens to be carrying or threatened with being locked away in a galactic brig on some out of the way planet doesn’t exactly hold an appeal. Living below the law does however and it’s the reason he does what he does.

No one to answer too…no one to hold him down…until he mistakenly dumps the cargo he’s carrying in order to keep it away from the Galactic Authorities. The client, of course, is suitably upset and puts a rather large price on his head. Knowing he has few options he seeks out Drake, an ancient Vampire from Earth, in the hopes his rare blood will be enough payment to hire him as his new bodyguard.

He’s right. At the same time he finds himself very attracted to the ancient vampire, in more ways than is really appropriate given he could die at any moment.

This story is set in a possible future for humans and is very well written. I personally am not usually a fan of male-to-male interaction, but I found myself engrossed. It really tugs at your emotions and the sacrifices Rand must face in order to save his own life will make you wonder if you could do the same.

The love that Rand comes to feel for his vampire protector gives you just a glimpse into his heart and mind. This is a wonderfully woven tale that will take you to the stars and beyond.
