For Pete's Sake

Gwyn Verde is engaged to a multi-millionaire Dominic Laredo. Dominic is also the boss of Gwyn's ex-boyfriend whom she dumped to run off with. Now Pete Payne is a man scorned and out for revenge. He has the perfect plan in place. The happy couple have announced their wedding plans at a posh island resort. Pete's specialty is computers and with one "mistake" he sends flowers and perishable food items to another part of the world. OOPS! Pete is sure that when the wedding is a total fiasco, Gwyn will see that Dominic is a loser and that Pete is really the man of her dreams.

What is it they say about best laid plans? Pete arrives at the resort, looking forward to witnessing the ruined wedding in person but soon finds himself confronted with the most beautiful woman he has ever seen. Soon Pete is thinking "Gwyn who?"

Lily Tiger is in charge of making sure the wedding goes off without a hitch. Now Pete finds himself in a tight spot. In order to get his revenge he will destroy the career of the new woman of his dreams.

It is a delight to read an erotic book with a story line other than just sex. For Pete's Sake has an interesting plot. The idea of a man revenging a slight such as this is exciting. Pete is the male version of "the woman scorned". And you never know what lengths one will go to when scorned. Author Mardi Ballou is gifted at penning hot and steamy sex scenes. Very well written, they explode off the page and scorch the reader. However, this reviewer did not feel the characters are well rounded and nor three dimensional. I would have liked the author to explore the characters on a larger basis than just their sexuality.

For Pete's Sake is a sequel to Hook, Wine & Tinker. This reviewer hasn't read it, but from what I gather this is the story of Gwyn and Pete's relationship and at the end of Hook, Wine & Tinker, Gwyn dumps Peter. For Pete's Sake is not for the faint at heart! Recommended for erotic lovers that like a little extra something in their reading.
