Myths and Legends 1: Jaguar

Sanika, a consecrated priestess, sought to save a young girl from being sacrificed to the gods. In their anger, the corrupt priests choose to make her the sacrifice instead. On the verge of being raped and sacrificed, and having been poisoned, Sanika finds herself saved by what she believes is a jaguar sent by the goddess. Just before she passes out, she recognizes that the goddess has sent a balam to save her. When she awakens, it is only to discover that she is drawn to Balam’s green eyes and dark curly hair despite his being half-human and half-jaguar. Now all she had to do is cope with one insufferably arrogant cat-man.

Balam is half-man and half-jaguar, an avatar of the gods. He hasn’t had a woman for longer than he cares to remember. Now that he finally has one in his arms – she’s dying. Hoping that he can save her, Balam takes Sanika to his cave, where he nurses her back to health using what healing skills he has. As he nurses her, a strong sense of possessiveness envelopes Balam and he decides to keep her as his mate. All he has to do is convince the most physically desirable woman he’s ever seen that she wants him. But to do this, he will have to fight his inner beast’s nature.

Myths and Legends 1: Jaguar is the first in Ms. Powell’s Myths and Legends Series and sets the stage for more in the way of cat-men. It will be interesting to see what kind of myths and legends will arise from Sarah Powell’s vivid imagination. Although short in length, it offers danger, suspense and a romance too. If you’re looking for something new and unusual to read, then this is a good bet!
