Determined to teach Dr. Davan a lesson in humility and obedience, Cair instead finds himself admiring her strength, bravery, and spirit.

In the midst of war, Cair and Davan discover the power and courage within each other to face the grave responsibilities combat has thrust upon them.

Unexpectedly, Davan is captured by Cair’s worst enemy. Will he ever see her again? Is it a ploy to capture and torture him? Or could it be a chance to end the war and finally know peace? Cair’s decision will bring peace or war. Charlotte Boyett-Compo succinctly describes the brutal and mercilessness of men that prolong a war for war’s sake and the men valiant enough to prefer peace.
