Enchanted Legacy
There are legends that intrigue, those that compel, and those that stay in our minds forever. Enchanted Legacy is one of those legends come to life at the skillful hands of author Lexie Avery.
Back in the wild days of the Gold Rush, the Comstock Lode and The Wild Push payloads were stolen on a regular basis, but what Enchanted Legacy focuses on is a fantastic bandit story where all three assailants were women. One of the culprits, Maggie Fuller, escaped with the loot, hid the cache and it was never found again.
In this version of the fantasy, generations later, Rio Laraquette, a consummate con-artist is hired to misrepresent herself as a member of the tribe as an estranged sister to William Tajan. William is in possession of a portion of the legendary treasure map. Rio poses as his sister and offers to help look for it, to restore it to the tribe.
As it often goes in redemption stories, things don’t work as planned. Rio is drawn to the family and the Nation. Something deep in her, something she thought long dead is rekindled when she hears of the love story of the Washoe Indian warrior Tajan, and Maggie Fuller. Through powers she doesn’t understand, and oddly doesn’t question, she finds herself immersed in the story, sometimes even feeling as though she were reliving it, hoping to find answers.
I found myself just as drawn into the intricately crafted world of Billy and Rio as Rio found herself with Tajan and Maggie. Action, mystery, spirituality, and love are all elements I love…elements of a story I cannot put down. This is one of those stories. Well crafted characters, heroes, heroines, villains, an treasure! A definite Recommended Read if I’ve ever found one. Well done!
