Alcandian Rage
At the conclusion of Alcandian Quest, Zeva, the sister of Jett, was trapped on Earth when the “gate” between Earth and Alcandar was blown up. For a year, Zeva was a captive of Earth’s military forces, her every movement watched and her every word recorded out of fear of her, an alien. The only person who could help her was Cole Somerton, whose sister Jessica became Jett’s mate. Cole understands Zeva’s need to escape, but knows they must wait until the time is right.
Back on Alcandar, Ravid and Keenan have been waiting for the new gate to be finished. While they had not yet bonded with Zeva, they knew that she was their mate, and they needed her in order to be complete. Previously, Zeva had resisted their advances for some reason, refusing to bind with them. Then she was trapped on Earth where they couldn’t reach her. Now that the new gate is working, they must embark on a quest to find their mate on Earth and free her, by force, if necessary, from her captors.
While this second book in the series didn’t blow me away like the first one, I enjoyed it and thought it was a creative and interesting SF story. The background for the series is that the people of Alcandar are producing more males than females, and so they must find mates among females of other planets. Because of this shortage of females, Alcandian men form brotherly bonds with another male, and then that pair mates with one female. With this set-up, the plot doesn’t slow down until the end of the book. Ravid and Keenan are really sexy guys, and the only question I have about the plot is why Zeva resisted them for so long! The sex scenes, as a prelude to marriage, are extremely hot and graphic and include just about everything that two men and a woman can do together. If you like science fiction romance, you definitely have to read this!
