Boy Toy; Call Me, Book II

Scarlett Marks’s life had just been turned upside down. Though her late husband had left her well cared for, and though she had entrusted the money she had inherited to a trusted financial advisor, she now found that said financial advisor had absconded with the funds! Though she still owned her house outright, she had no source of income. So, at the age of 53, Scarlett was looking for her first job.

Finn Yates first sees Scarlett on the day she interviews for a job at the Call Me Agency. Finn is a retired entrepreneur and silent partner in the bar across the street from Call Me, and he immediately sees the potential beauty in this “older” woman. The problem is, will Scarlett see the romantic potential of a much younger man?

This is a nice romantic comedy – short, sweet, and to the point. The plot is straightforward, and moves along speedily. The more important feature of this story is the characters and their development. I really empathized with Scarlett as the older woman just beginning to take charge of her life. The hero, Finn, was a bit harder to get to know, but he is certainly a likeable character. I also enjoyed the secondary characters, especially Dulcie, the owner of the Call Me Agency. The sex scenes are not graphic, but sensual, and are between two people who like each other. This short story was just the right touch for an enjoyable Saturday afternoon.
